looking your best with Honey

Audrey and I attended an event this week at Le Petite Retreat day spa hosted by Pura Miel (the National Honey Board) and professional makeup artist, Colombiana Vicky Mejía. We were treated to yummy food, honey facials and good company.

Vicky Mejía shared her natural, honey-based, easy to make at home recipes with us. Along with natural skin care, she suggests taking care of your skin by drinking plenty of water and getting a good nights sleep every night.

Pregnancy is a time when I really focus on taking care of myself and limiting the toxins in my body, these recipes are perfect for me right now.

"beauty is a combination of mind, body and soul"

Clean

Soothing Honey-Based Cleanser

1 tablespoon honey
1 egg white
1 teaspoon powdered milk

In a small bowl mix honey and powdered milk. Next, lightly whisk the egg white in a separate small bowl. Add egg white to honey and milk mixture and mix. Apply cleanser onto face and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water

 Exfoliate

Honey and Almond Scrub

3 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon olive oil
6 1/2 tablespoons crushed almonds

In a medium size bowl mix honey, crushed almonds and olive oil. Mix until throughly combined. Rub the scrub with circular motions onto your T-zone, with special attention to your nose, chin and forehead. Rinse with warm water.

Moisturize

Moisturizing Honey Treatment

1 tablespoon honey
1/4 banana
1 teaspoon oatmeal
1 teaspoon plain yogurt

In a small bowl mash banana and mix in honey, yogurt and oatmeal. Mix until throughly combined. Apply onto clean face, avoiding the skin around your eyes. Leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

You lucky girl!! I am so jealous and so very glad that you got to be pampered. If not now, when?? You are looking beautiful as always! Give the kiddos a hug from me. Lilah just said, "Who's that little girl?" I said, "Your cousin!!" We have got to find a way to get them together.
